Temporary exhibition: „In the Glow of Light, an Image Appears” – Stained Glass Art in Prussia and the Work of Stained Glass Studios in East Prussia Before World War II
We invite you to a temporary exhibition dedicated to the stained glass of former East Prussia, which showcases its diversity and beauty despite wartime destruction. We are presenting original stained glass panels, including one of the oldest stained glass pieces in the region, from Gudnik, depicting the Resurrection of Christ. Also on display are unique 19th-century Jewish stained glass works and large-format prints of stained glass from various churches.
The exhibition features works from museums in Olsztyn, Malbork, Frombork, and Węgorzewo, as well as from the Archcathedral in Frombork, the parish in Ostróda, and schools in Kętrzyn. A unique highlight is a restored Jewish panel from the synagogue in Mrągowo.
Informational folders, a film about the creation of stained glass, and a presentation about former stained glass studios are all available on interactive touch screens at the exhibition.
